Drogheda Women & Children’s Refuge Launches 2024 Annual Report

We are proud to share our 2024 Annual Report, highlighting a year of growth, resilience, and impact at Drogheda Women & Children’s Refuge Centre.

In 2024, our team responded to 778 crisis calls, delivered over 1,000 one-to-one support interventions, and provided 1,563 child-focused supports, a remarkable increase from just 212 the previous year. Our outreach service supported 243 women, marking a 59% rise from 2023, and we delivered 299 therapy sessions to children affected by domestic violence.

However, the report also reflects the ongoing challenges we face. Due to full capacity and the housing crisis, 424 women and 265 children were unable to access refuge accommodation. 19 families exited refuge into homelessness, and 336 child protection referrals were made, more than double the previous year.

To address these gaps, we launched several new initiatives:

  • The Safe Harbour Project in Mosney Village, supporting migrant women
  • The Parent Support Clinic, which reached 32 mothers and 165 children
  • Secured a premises for our upcoming Community Resource Hub, expanding outreach, counselling, and youth services

This report is a testament to the courage of survivors, the dedication of our staff, and the strength of our community.
